Here's another small pot that I'm very satisfied with.
It is already bisque-fired and now prepared/shaded before glazing.
Free wheel turning ....
Something we still have to learn is working with the potter's wheel.
So .... visiting a seminar ?....or autodidactic ?
A big advantage of the autodidactic way is that you are not limited by knowledge.
The element of coincidence is much bigger. It can influence the work and make it unique.
Today Martin was testing his skills.
He is really enjoying it as you can see ..... and was very satisfied with the result.
Rough.... surprisingly.... and with a big element of coincidence.... that is what Martin is looking for!
A nice little cascade-pot. Hopefully the glazing will further enhance it.

Rare Ashes ..........
Last weekend we managed to burn all the stuff we had collected last year.
It was dry enough now and so the "cooking" worked very well.
We have burned a few rare things and are totally exited now to formulate new glazes.
It's great fun and very satisfying to explore new materials.
The setup is quite simple. All you need is a gas burner, a self made wire basket and something to get some space underneath it so that the ash can fall down.

An auction with our pots
Our beloved german forum the "Bonsai-Fachforum" wants to raise some money to finance and stay in touch with the technical future.
We wanted to help them and donated a few pots.
The first one is a nice oval from Klaudia.

Air layered beeches
These two beeches have been air layered this year and I like to show you some pics of today's cut-off.
I started it in 2011 but wasn't sure if it has been successful enough at the end of summer.
These beeches have been collected in an old hedge. The trunks are about 4 and 9 cm in size.

UPDATE ........20.04.2013
It's getting warmer now and I have taken out the beeches from the winter-shelter.
They have been kept outdoor in a pile of bark over winter.
Today I cut back the branches and roots and planted them in a momentary pot.
The result on these airlayerings are very nice but it's still a long way to go!
New pots for Werner Busch
We visited Werner Busch at his Bonsaiwerkstatt
and Bonsai-Museum in Düsseldorf to deliver some new pots.
The weather was fine so we spend some hours there.
A few shots of the workshop and museum.
Walter Pall had a personal exibition at that time.
The size of his trees is always surprising!
